Highly Capable

  • Highly Capable Referrals:  Anyone may refer a student for testing for the highly capable programs.  Referrals can come from parents, teachers, school specialists, friends, family, community members, district staff, or even the student themselves.     Referrals windows are: 

    KINDERGARTEN:  December 1, 2016 to December 16, 2016

    GRADES 1-8:  January 4, 2017 to January 31, 2017

    Highly Capable Referral & Testing Process (Overview)

    STEP 1A:  Kindergarten student online referrals
    December 1, 2016 – December 16, 2016

    STEP 1B:  1st – 8th grade student online referrals
    January 4, 2107 – January 31, 2017 

    STEP 2:  Teachers complete Online Renzulli Scales for each referred student.

    STEP 3:  Student Testing (scheduled during school by building)
    Kindergarten:  January 4, 2017 – January 18, 2017
    1st – 8th Grade:  February 27, 2017 – March 17, 2017253.683.6049 

    STEP 4:  Placement Team meets to make placements for highly capable programs.

    STEP 5:  Parent notification of placement decision via mail
    Kindergarten:  End of March
    1st – 8th Grade:  End of April  

    Special Notes:

      • Next Year High School Students wishing to enroll in Honors, Advanced Placement, Cambridge, or Running Start courses will need to contact their guidance counselor for the scheduling process.
      • Endeavour Application is a separate process and will occur later in the spring.
      • Current highly capable students do not need to be referred and will not need to test again.


  • Challenge 2016/17 Schedule

    The Challenge welcome letters were mailed the first week of September. The first day of Challenge will be Wednesday, September 14.  The Challenge schedule is posted below.
