I hope this message finds you well. The purposes of this message are to let you begin to get to know me, and for me to share my beliefs and expectations about our partnership.
I am a proud father of two children. Shelby, my daughter, is a 20-year old nursing student at the University of Washington (coincidentally, this is my alma mater). Derek, my son, is an 18-year old freshman, also at the UW. Woof!
Professionally, my experiences continue to grow (I just learned this great way to say, “I’m getting older”). I taught elementary-age children for 10 years in South Seattle, was principal of Camas Prairie Elementary in Bethel School District for ten years, and am in my second year of serving the Naches Trail community.
You will find that I am driven by some core beliefs:
*I am responsible for ensuring that every child in my care receives the time and support they need in order to develop the talents and skills required to succeed in their futures.
*I am responsible for ensuring that every child in my care is physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe.
*Raising and teaching children is such a complex task that it can only be accomplished by all of the adults in their lives working together, and I am responsible for ensuring those partnerships happen.
I need some help from you in meeting this last belief. You are going to need to be active partners with me. You are going to need to attend to the information we send home, ask us questions, and share your insight and wishes.
Our children are my focus. However, I am wise enough to know that the only way to ensure they reach their unlimited potential is by working as partners. I promise you I will do my part, and I trust you will do your part.
Together, we will do great things for our kids.
A Message from Our Associate Administrator
Hello Students and Families,
I am excited to begin the 2015-2016 school year as Associate Administrator at Naches Trail Elementary School. Having been both a teacher and an instructional coach for the past ten years, I know that I am lucky to be able to work with our staff and students in this new role.
I bring with me 27 years of teaching experience ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade. My familiarity with this school and district has enabled me to form positive relationships with students, staff members, administrators and families.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time at home with my husband, Ed, and our daughter Emily, who is a sophomore at Graham Kapowsin High School.
I look forward to working with all of you to make our school a place of academic excellence, where children feel valued, nurtured, and encouraged to grow.
