Protocol for delaying, closing school

If weather reports indicate the potential for hazardous road conditions, four officials from Bethel's transportation department will inspect roads throughout the district at 3:30 a.m. After conferring with Director of Transportation Karen Campbell a recommendation regarding the delay or closure of school is then made to Superintendent Tom Seigel.

The superintendent will make a final decision by 4 a.m. Director of Communications Krista Carlson will then immediately place a recording on the district's information hotline (683-6001). Local television and radio stations will also be informed of the delay or closure. Additionally, a notice will be posted on the district's Web site.

Our buses start rolling at 5 a.m. Therefore any decision regarding transportation must be made early.

The stations below all broadcast delay and closure information for Bethel schools.
