School Health Services

Bethel school nursing: Child health advocates

Keeping Washington’s children healthy and ready to learn is the focus school nurses. The school nurse’s primary function is to strengthen the educational process through interventions and protection of the health status of children. The school nurse, as a member of a student’s professional education team, works with school staff and parents to identify students with health problems and concerns and design individual or special programs for the students. As with everything else, a strong partnership between home and school will help ensure that children are educated in a safe, healthy and secure environment.

Contact the school nurse when:

  • You have concerns or questions about your child’s health
  • You want information about health care services in the community
  • You need a referral to a health care provider
  • You need to discuss healthy choices for you family
  • You need dental care for your child
  • Your child’s attendance starts to change
  • A health problem might be a community health issue
