NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT
The No Child Left Behind Act requires that all Title I Paraeducators are Highly Qualifed.

What does this mean?
In order for a Paraeducator or Substitute Paraeducator to work in a Schoolwide Title I building or in a Title I position you must meet one of the following options:

  • Have an Associate Degree
  • Have 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits of Higher Education; 100 level or above
  • By passing the ETS Parapro Assessment; scoring 461 or higher

  • All sessions are computer based.
  • SEATS ARE LIMITED, Please call to reserve your seat.
  • All testing sessions are open to out of district personnel. Please call for testing fees, reservations, or additional information.
  • ETS OFFICIAL PRACTICE TESTS ARE AVAILABLE at the district office located at 516 East 176th Street, Spanaway, WA 98387

Washington State Core Competencies
Washington State requires that all Special Education Paraeducators must complete the 14 Core Competencies.

These competencies are available in three groups:

  • Competencies 1 - 6, available online
  • Competencies 7-11 & 13, available online
  • Competencies 12 & 14, available through Special Services
