Dear Kapowsin Families:
I hope that the summer months have provided you with opportunities to rest, renew, and enjoy the company of family and friends. At the end of last school year, Ms. McPhail accepted a position in Federal Way, allowing her to work closer to home. This summer has allowed me to begin the transition from Roy Elementary to Kapowsin as your new principal. I would like to formally introduce myself and share a little bit about my background, beliefs, and my excitement about becoming Kapowsin’s newest principal.
I have been in education for 23 years and have degrees from Central Washington University and the University of Washington. I have always looked for ways to make a positive impact on every school I have worked in. My professional background includes experience at elementary, middle, and high school:
My early interactions with some of the staff and community members have highlighted their pride and commitment to the education and overall well-being of our students. I am excited to work in partnership with the Kapowsin staff, students and community because I see the incredible opportunities we have to make a positive and lasting impact on our students. I am thrilled to have such a strong instructional team of dedicated teachers and staff. With our relatively small student population, I am confident we will make impressive gains with each of our students and make a strong statement about the powerful impact of being dedicated and committed to student learning.
As both a parent and a school administrator, there are three core values by which I operate: 1) Clear & Honest Communication; 2) Success Through Teamwork; and most importantly 3) Commitment to Student Learning. With this approach I will do all I can to ensure the success of each of our young Cougars. I look forward to meeting you soon and working as part of the Kapowsin community. I invite you to contact me with any concerns, suggestions, or questions regarding the vision and direction of Kapowsin Elementary.
