Hello Kapowsin Families,
I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude for the kind giving nature of one of our families. Thanks to a generous contribution to the PTA, all of our students have the opportunity to enjoy free popcorn on Popcorn Fridays for the remainder of the school year. Needless to say, the news of free popcorn was a huge hit with the students.
Report Cards have gone home and conferences are scheduled for March 23-27, but please do not wait to have conversations with teachers regarding your student’s progress. Expressing your concerns and seeking ways that you can support your student at home are conversations that should be ongoing and not limited to the conference calendar. Classroom teachers and our reading specialists are always reviewing student progress and identifying how to further support reading growth throughout the second half of the year.
Attendance continues to be a school-wide focus and our ongoing “Pawfect Attendance” campaign continues to celebrate students’ efforts to be at school, on time, and ready to learn in every classroom. Please continue to do your best to schedule appointments outside of the school day and on non-school days whenever possible. I know it’s not always an option, but your efforts are noticed and appreciated.
Remember, while we wait for spring to arrive, these cold evenings provide great opportunities to snuggle up with a good book after school, increase reading fluency, build vocabulary and earn some AR points. Stay warm and stay safe as we navigate the final stretch before spring.
