    Have you thought of becoming a teacher, yet are lacking a WA State teaching credential? No problem! Bethel Schools is looking for people who want to make a difference and are excited about joining Team Bethel as Emergency Substitute Teachers.

    With our District’s support, you can apply to obtain your Emergency Substitute Teaching certificate through the State of Washington. This on-call teaching position organizes and implements lesson plans during a teacher’s absence to provide valuable learning experiences for students.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

    • Experience working with children in an instructional capacity
    • 4-year degree verifiable per unofficial transcripts (AAs may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
      • If currently enrolled in teacher-prep program, candidates who've completed a considerable amount may be considered
    • Availability and desire to work on a consistent basis -- minimum 4 times a month
    • NOT CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY BETHEL SCHOOLS

    Current Substitute Daily Rates: Full Day $140 / Half Day $70


    PROCESS

    • Submit your complete online application for the "Emergency Substitute Teacher" posting at jobs.bethelsd.org before the current posting closes (postings close @ 5pm).

    A complete application includes:

    - All sections of Online Application completed and signed

    - Current Cover Letter

    - Current Resume

    - Unofficial Transcripts showing completed degree(s)

    - 3 completed online confidential reference surveys, including one from current/recent supervisor

    Missing any of the above will result in your application NOT being considered for this position.

    • Upon application pre-screening verification, you will receive an email invitation to participate in an online interview.
    • Following the interview and if selected to move forward, you'll receive instructions to complete your background check (e.g., 10-digit fingerprints) and apply for State certification.
    • Upon fingerprints being cleared and certificate issuance, you'll be prompted to complete hiring paperwork and invited to ESC (district office) for New Employee Orientation.
    • Next, you'll attend a paid, mandatory, one-day training (training dates correlate with job posting).
    • Finally, you'll begin accepting classroom substitute teaching assignments.

    TRAINING

    Prior to your first substituting assignment, the District will provide a full day of paid group training to new Emergency Substitute Teachers. The training is designed to benefit you in being successful in the areas of

    • Classroom management,
    • Lesson plan implementation,
    • School and district procedures,
    • Educator professionalism and standards of conduct, and
    • Legal issues.

    Administrative Interns with an educational background will facilitate the class in partnership with Human Resources.
