• Roy Elementary School

Roy Elementary School opened in 1938, more than a decade before Bethel officially became a school district. The school went largely unchanged until 1971, when four new classrooms and a library were added to the original brick building. In 1983, new classrooms, a kitchen and a multi-purpose room were built, and in 1987 the school’s classrooms were renovated, and a new computer lab and covered play shed were added. Several portable classrooms were also added to the campus to accommodate a growing student population.

  • Roy Memories: Presidential visit

    Posted by BHS on 7/21/2017

Not every school can claim to have been visited by a sitting United States President. Even fewer can say they were visited by the President, the First Lady, and the Vice President all on the same day. Yet that’s exactly what happened in the fall of 1996, when Bill and Hillary Clinton and Al and Tipper Gore stopped by Roy Elementary as part of a campaign swing through Washington. The Clintons spent roughly 20 minutes at the school shaking hands and chatting with students and faculty members.
