Liberty Middle School
Built in 2009, Liberty Middle School is the district's newest middle school. Despite being built and ready for use, Liberty didn’t officially open as a middle school until 2010. That’s because during the 2009/2010 school year it served students from Spanaway Lake High School, which was under construction at the time. When the school board was thinking of potential names for Liberty Middle School, one suggestion was to name it after a former Bethel student who was killed in the Iraq War. In the end, the board chose the name Liberty in order to honor everyone who serves their country and defends its freedom.
