English Language Arts
Secondary English Language Arts courses in the Bethel School District focus on integrating reading, writing, speaking and listening, and use of language. Students examine a variety of literary and informational texts and authors. Reading instruction allows students to cite textual evidence and determine main ideas and themes. Students expand writing skills through practice on narrative, informative, explanatory, and argumentative texts. Students also participate in a range of collaborative discussions, building on others’ ideas and clearly expressing their own. Students work toward meeting standard on the Common Core grade-specific standards.
6-12 ELA Curriculum
As a Pre-AP program, all SpringBoard courses share a common set of classroom routines and approaches that give students many opportunities to practice and strengthen their skills while building their confidence in the classroom.
