HELPING FAMILIES
Provides parent education and support to pregnant parents and families with children birth to 8 years old. Services are designed to promote healthy development and family stability.
- Promoting First Relationships (PFR) - This program was developed at University of Washington School of Nursing and is a home-visiting program that focuses on parent-child bonding for families with children birth to 4 years old. It requires extensive training and involves videotaping of parent/child interactions and reflective feedback for parents from practitioners.
- Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Home Visiting Program - This program has been shown to improve parenting skills for families with children ages 2-12 years old. This is an intensive home visiting program consisting of at least 10 individual parenting sessions that views the parent as the expert on their child, teaches them about child development, how to solve child behavior challenges from a positive and strengths-based support system, as well as many other parenting skills. 8-week "Triple P" classes are also available.
MULTICARE WIC, SPANAWAY CLINIC
WIC is a supplemental nutritional program for women, infants and children. It provides milk, cereal, eggs, peanut butter, fruits and vegetables, infant formulas and other nutritional foods. The WIC program also provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health assessments and referrals. To learn more, call 253-846-8234 or 1-800-322-2588.
GREATER LAKES MENTAL HEALTHCARE, CHILD & FAMILY THERAPY
Referrals for services at the Bethel Family Center can be made by calling the Greater Lakes Mental Heathcare Access Center at 253-581-7020. Families need to provide their Medicaid information when calling.
HAWLEY P. MILLS VETERAN SERVICES
Veterans can receive assistance with filing initial claims, appealing a claim or disability rating, obtaining copies of medical records, etc. Contact Frank Sterling at 253-303-2980.
RESCARE WORKFORCE SERVICES FOR YOUTH
ResCare guides youth (age 18-24) through individualized strategies that will lead to educational attainment, skill development, job readiness, work experience, and viable employment. For more information call 253-229-8221.
CONSEJO SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES
Consejo provides youth substance use disorder assessment, referral and outpatient treatment services across Pierce County and for students and families in the Bethel School District. Services include community outreach, crisis intervention, screening, urine analysis, substance use disorder assessment and recommendation.
