• Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:

As Principal of Challenger High School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year. Challenger High Schools offers students a choice. For a number of reasons, students and parents may choose a non-traditional setting for students and Challenger is a wonderful option for many students and their families. We are happy that you have chosen Challenger as your high school!

We have a highly qualified staff who are very experienced in working with students in an Alternative Education setting. I am very proud of our teachers and support staff and their support of students helps many to reach their goal of graduating from high school in a timely manner. The staff of Challenger High School are dedicated to the success of every student, every day.  Challenger High School renewed its accreditation through AdvancED in the spring of 2018 and the staff continues to work on improving the programs offered.

This year, we are very excited to announce that the new Challenger High School is currently under construction and will be completed for the 2022-23 school year! Phase 1 (now open) of the new building contains new administrative and support staff offices, a commons area for students to use, a physical education studio, an art classroom and state-of-the-art science lab.  Phase 2 contains 30,000 square feet of general classrooms, CTE computer lab, maker spaces, Culinary Arts kitchen, a gym, media and student center, and and expanded commons! Please excuse our dust and noise as construction takes place this school year.

Parent involvement is a vital key to Alternative Education and for the success of students at Challenger. We encourage parents to monitor student progress regularly. We send out progress reports (monthly) and report cards (quarterly) and we encourage parents to download and use the Synergy ParentView/StudentView App to monitor their student’s progress. Parents are welcome to set up appointments to meet with me and discuss the progress of their students at any time. Students find greater success when parents are involved and monitoring their progress and attendance throughout the year.

The entire staff Challenger is working towards the same goals: provide an opportunity for each student to succeed at school, to complete requirements for graduation and to prepare themselves for their futures. We welcome your suggestions and questions. Thank you for being part of our school’s community!

You may contact me or make an appointment by calling 253.800.6889. I look forward to the 2021-22 school year and working with the students, the staff and the parents of Challenger High School.
