• Welcome to our Wondrous Wildcat 2015-16 school year!!!

I hope everyone has had a magnificent, relaxing summer. I was able to get away to one of my favorite places in the world and enjoy some family time at Cannon Beach. I love walking through town and relaxing with a good book on the beach, knowing that my commitment to my family and time away has helped me to return refreshed and ready to start our new school year.

I am happy to be back at school and excited just thinking about the amazing possibilities this school year will bring. Our building is already a busy place with Mr. Bell cleaning and organizing. Our fantastic office staff, Mrs. Cohea, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Jo Cruz and Mrs. Bailey are answering phones and registering new students. Our dedicated and brilliant teachers are hard at work setting up their classrooms to welcome you on September 3rd for our Seahawks themed, Back To School Night.

At Camas Prairie, we are committed to putting students first, listening, engaging our diverse community, advocating for our school in ALL that we do, being visible and empowering ALL Wildcats to be the best they can be. We will accomplish this by continuing to promote positive behavior, improving our instruction every day and getting to know each and every student to ensure that each Wildcat gets what they need in order to reach their fullest potential.

Our goal is for all students to experience success and nothing motivates a child more than when schools and their families value learning. You can model your value of education by partnering with us to encourage social, emotional and academic growth for our Wildcats. One way you can do that is by attending our “Pastries with the Principal” events. This will be an adult only, open forum for questions to be answered, new ideas to be shared and to give input for overcoming challenges. Mark your calendars; our first event is Thursday, September 17th from 10-11 in the gym.  Another way you can support your child, stay informed and connected is by subscribing to our school Face Book Page. Search and like, Camas Prairie Wildcats and join the fun.

Camas staff is committed to sharing our love of learning with all students in many ways. First, we will collaborate on a regular basis to analyze data and create the necessary “next steps” to promote student success, achievement and a sense of accountability as we work together to achieve goals. We will work diligently to implement new and improved curriculums and reflect on our teaching practice, as it aligns with The Danielson Framework for Teaching.  Finally, Wildcat staff will create learning environments and classroom cultures with clear expectations and routines to maximize vital instructional time. Teachers will create classroom atmospheres that are cognitively busy places with high expectations set for ALL students. Intentional questioning and conversations that promote high-level thinking and ensure all student voices are heard in discussions will be incorporated into daily instruction.

As you can see, we have great work to do this year and look forward to your continued support and partnership. I feel extremely fortunate to be returning as the principal of Camas Prairie for my second year and know that this year will be a year to remember.

Enjoy the final days of summer, Wildcats!
