Principal's Message

  • Hello Kapowsin Cougar Families,

As we have navigated our way through the first part of the school year, we have made improvements to our systems for parent drop-off/pick-up and we have helped our students and families get back into the routines of full-time school.

Unfortunately, we are operating within a world where COVID is still a very real issue in our communities.  While we continue to take every precaution we can (in the classrooms, in the hallways, during breakfast/lunch, and on buses) there may be a situation where your student is required to stay home because he/she has been exposed to a student who has tested positive.

 Kapowsin has a safety team that looks into every potential student/staff exposure.

 All contact tracing efforts involve our Administrators, Office Staff, Nurse, Health Clerk, District Administration and Transportation.

 We continue to follow the health and safety guidelines for schools as outlined by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and the Bethel School District.

 If your child has to stay home from school due to potential exposure to COVID-19, you will be informed via a phone call from the school with additional details.

 Teachers are informed when one of their students is required to stay home. They will contact families within 24 hours regarding a plan for accessing school work and at- home assignments.

Our goal is to be timely and transparent regarding the impact of COVID-19 while keeping our school operating in a safe manner and protecting the health of our students and staff.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support.
