Hello Kapowsin Cougar Families,
As we have navigated our way through the first part of the school year, we have made improvements to our systems for parent drop-off/pick-up and we have helped our students and families get back into the routines of full-time school.
Unfortunately, we are operating within a world where COVID is still a very real issue in our communities. While we continue to take every precaution we can (in the classrooms, in the hallways, during breakfast/lunch, and on buses) there may be a situation where your student is required to stay home because he/she has been exposed to a student who has tested positive.
Kapowsin has a safety team that looks into every potential student/staff exposure.
All contact tracing efforts involve our Administrators, Office Staff, Nurse, Health Clerk, District Administration and Transportation.
We continue to follow the health and safety guidelines for schools as outlined by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and the Bethel School District.
If your child has to stay home from school due to potential exposure to COVID-19, you will be informed via a phone call from the school with additional details.
Teachers are informed when one of their students is required to stay home. They will contact families within 24 hours regarding a plan for accessing school work and at- home assignments.
Our goal is to be timely and transparent regarding the impact of COVID-19 while keeping our school operating in a safe manner and protecting the health of our students and staff.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support.
