Dear Students, Families and Community Members,
On behalf of the staff at Kapowsin Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome you to a new school year. As I begin my third year as Principal of Kapowsin, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of each student who walks through our doors. As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more important for us to work together to ensure our children reach their highest potential. We believe that all of us - students, staff, families and community - must work together in an extended family environment for the success of Kapowsin kids.
With this in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at Kapowsin Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the PTA, special event coordinator or member of our school community, you are encouraged to be involved! Research on schools clearly states that parents and community participating in a child's school life coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for that child as well as others. Your involvement, partnership and support are greatly appreciated during the school year as we work to build and maintain our programs.
Please join us for our Open House, August 30, 2016, from 4:00 to 6:00pm. You and your child(ren) will have the opportunity to meet his/her teacher, drop off supplies and tour the school. The health clerk will be available to check in physician medication orders and corresponding medications in the health room.
As a reminder, the first day of school is Thursday, September 1, 2016 for grades 1 - 5. School starts at 9:00am and ends at 3:30pm. Students may enter the building at 8:40am. Kindergarten students first day will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Office hours will be 8:30 to 4:00pm.
I am confident that this will be another outstanding school year and look forward to working with staff, families and community to continue the Kapowsin tradition of academic excellence!
Please feel free to contact me or any member of the Kapowsin Team. The student handbook will soon be available online.

Mrs. Stephanie McPhail
