Principal's Message

  • Shining Mountain Family,

Summer is approaching! With summer comes sunny days and relaxation. With summer also comes restlessness and the Summer Slide. The Summer Slide is what we refer to as the loss of reading and math achievement over the 2-3 months student’s minds are idle. This achievement loss can range from 2-6 months.

At Shining Mountain we work hard to ensure that ALL kids are making accelerated academic progress. This year we have made some very exciting electronic reading and math resources available for you to help avoid summer “boredom” and that Summer Slide. Both of these are available at no charge to you and will be a tool utilized by the classroom teacher in the years to come as part of their academic program.
