    LTC (R) Derek Reeve

     

    LTC(retired) Derek Reeve grew up in Puyallup, Washington and graduated from Governor John R. Rogers High School in 1985. He attended Green River Community College for two years before transferring to the University of Washington on an Army ROTC Scholarship. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the UW in 1989 with his commission as a Second Lieutenant in Armor. He received his Master of Science Degree in Adult Education from Kansas State University in 2003.

    His duty stations include Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Riley Kansas, Fort Huachuca Arizona, Campbell Barracks-Heidelberg Germany, Conn Barracks-Schweinfurt Germany, Fort Carson Colorado, Fort Leavenworth Kansas, The Armoured Fighting Vehicle Gunnery School in Lulworth UK, the University of San Francisco California and Joint Base Lewis-McChord Washington. He has deployed to both combat and peace enforcement missions including the 1991 Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

    He has served in a variety of leadership positions including Tank Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Tank Company Commander, Recon Troop Commander, S-3 Operations Officer at the Battalion and Brigade Level, Battalion Executive Officer, Deputy Commander, Professor of Military Science and J-3 Joint Operations Officer. He retired from Active Duty in 2015 after 26 years of Service and now teaches JROTC at Graham Kapowsin High School in Graham, Washington.

    He is married to the former Denell Gratzer of Puyallup Washington and they have a son, Nick.

    SGM (Ret) Timothy Beall grew up in Fairfield, Iowa and graduated Fairfield High School in 1986. He joined the 224th Engineer Company, Iowa Army National Guard in February 1986. Went to Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir, VA.  Following AIT he attended Scott Community College where he received a certification in drafting.

    Within SGM (Ret) Beall 27 years of service he has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, S-3 Operations Sergeant Major, Battalion Sergeant Major and Task Force Sergeant Major.

    His duty assignments include 224th Engineer Company in Fairfield, IA, 4th Transportation Command and 1st Transportation Movement Control Agency,  Oberusel, Germany, A Co. USAG, Yakima, WA, 659th Engineer Company, Spokane, 4th Brigade 91st Division, 2122nd Garrison Support Unit, 191st Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion 356th Regiment Logistic Support, Medical Training Task Force (MTTF) Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Security Forces Advisory Team (SFAT 14, Gladiators) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XII-XIII, Kandahar City and 555th Engineer Brigade (Rear Det), Joint Base Lewis-McChord where he retired in 2013.

    His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, NBC Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, First Sergeants Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and Combat Advisory Training course. SGM (Ret) Beall has two degrees, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Capella University, and Associate in Technical Engineering from Yakima Valley Community College.

    SGM Beall resides in Graham, WA.  He is married to the former Pamela Poisel of Yakima, WA and they have a daughter Miranda, and son Tim Jr.

    Cadet Aidyn Stone is a senior at Gk. He is a let 3 in the program. He is the eldest of 4, with two younger brother and a younger sister. He grew up in Snoqualmie living with his grandmothers. Past job being a company level XO. He is currently the battalion commander of the 2019-2020 year as well as the Armed drill team commander. He’s been involved in drill for 3 years. One year of unarmed and 2 years of Armed. He’s also been involved in raiders for 3 years. Color guard for 2 years. After high school he plans to go to college for rotc and medical studies.

     Cadet CSM Tyler Whitmer  is a Senior at GK. He was born in Alaska. He moved to Florida in 2004 and in 2009 he ended up in Washington. Cadet Whitmer came into the program seeking leadership and knowledge to further his goal of becoming a flight warrant officer. He loves driving and working on his truck in his free time.

     Cadet Major Jayden Amrhein is a Senior at GK. He was born in Lakewood, Washington but was raised in Spanaway, Washington. Cadet Amrhein is the oldest of 4 and loves hanging out with his friends and working in his free time. This is his 4th year participating in JROTC and is currently serving as one of the Battalion XO’s, his previous JROTC positions were Company Supply Sergeant and Battalion Drill officer. He says the reason he joined JROTC was for the family atmosphere, while also wanting to develop leadership and critical thinking skills to help him in his journey of becoming a Airborne Ranger. He is currently in the U.S. Army delayed entry program and also says he is beyond ready to finish his senior year of High School and start the next chapter in his life.

     Cadet Major Katherine Johnson is a senior at GK. She was born in Phoenix,  Arizona and was raised in Spanaway, Wa. She is on the unarmed drill team and has participated on the team for the past 3 years. She is doing the running start program at Pierce College. She has two cats that she loves very much. She plans on finishing her AA in pre nursing and transferring to another college to get her Bachelor's degree

    Cadet Captain Brady Congo is a Junior at GK. He has spent all three years of high school in the Eagle Battalion, making him a LET 3. He doubles as the Unarmed Drill Team commander. Outside of school, he plays hockey with the Tacoma Rockets, this year with their 16u A1 team. He has lived in Washington his entire life, but has only lived in Puyallup the past three years. After high school, Brady is going to study to be on a NASCAR Pit Crew, and eventually study Motorsport Sciences and become a strategist with a Formula 1 team. He loves JROTC for the life skills that other classes don’t provide and has a passion for Drill and Ceremony.

     This is Cadet Captain (C/CPT) Sell. She was born in Madigan Army Hospital, Joint Base Lewis-McChord.She is a on her fourth year of JROTC and served two other leadership positions; admin officer, and S3 Events. She is currently enlisted in the Navy and part of the DEP, along with a Warrior Challenge Program.

     Cadet Major Tally is a senior at GK, he was born and raised in Nampa Idaho. Cadet Major Tally is the oldest of 4 children and he is a let 4 in the JROTC program. His job is the battalion s3 meaning he helps coordinate and plan all events within the program as well as overseeing the execution of each event and keeping record of all those in attendance. He joined the program to develop leadership skills and get a head start on military background and discipline. It is his goal to join AFROTC at the University of Washington in Seattle and commission as an officer as a drone pilot. Within his free time he enjoys playing video games and bowling in tournaments with his dad.

     Cadet Sgm Paull is a junior at GK He was born in California, raised in Virginia and moved to Washington three years ago. He is the youngest of three kids. One older brother and one older sister. He is a let 3 in JROTC meaning this is his third year in the program. His job in the program is the Operations Sergeant Major. He says he joined the program to improve his leadership skills and prepare for the military. He heavily enjoys listening to music.

    Cadet Captain Sessions is a junior at GK. He was born in Pocatello Idaho, but raised in Spanaway Washington. Cadet Sessions is the middle child of 3 an older sister and a younger brother. He is a let 3 in JROTC meaning this is his third year in the program. His job in the program is the volunteer officer for the battalion. He enjoys hanging out with friends and working in his spare time. He says he Joined the program for leadership skills to help him in his next chapter in life.

    Cadet CPT Ankley was born in Puyallup WA grew up in Graham, she is the second youngest out of 7 siblings. This is her Third year in jrotc. After high school she wants to do something in the medical field.

     Austin Turner was Born in Texas. He lived in Alaska for 6 years, moved to Washington when he was 10 and has been here for 8 years. This is his fourth year in the JROTC program. His previous job was Alpha Company first sergeant and Now he is the Battalion S4 for the 2019/20 school year. He joined the Army Reserve doing the Delayed Entry Program and went to Basic Training during his Junior and Senior year of High school. He plans to go to a 4 year university and join Active Duty Army as an officer.

    Cadet CPT Emily DeRome is a senior and a LET 4 in JROTC. Her job consists of taking count of everything in inventory and helping with staff. She is a running start student and works part-time as a retail worker. She plans on taking a gap year to travel, work and build her educational resume. She enjoys writing and learning new things.

    Cadet Sergeant First Class Tayler Mae Berry is a Junior at GK, she is a running start student, and this is her second year in JROTC. She was on varsity track for discus and shotput for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, as well as being on the GK drug and alcohol safety committee for a year making sure GKs halls stayed safe. She has lived in Washington since she was born, moving from Issaquah, to Eatonville, and now to Graham where she lives with her father, step mother, step brother and many animals. She plans to get her high school diploma and AA in fine arts at Pierce College, where she is doing running start at. After high school, she wants to go to Digipen Art Institute where she will get her BFA in digital animation and drawing so she can move on to create her own animated shorts, as well as digital comics for one of the major comic book companies. After that, she plans to open her own business in the comic industry.

     Theresa Hammon was born in National City California. Growing up a Army brat she never stayed in one place for long. Her family’s longest station in total was Washington for 8 years. After her step dad retired her family decided to stay in washington. She is the oldest child in her house with her younger half brother. She is a 4 year JROTC participant and her previous JROTC jobs were platoon S1 and Deputy S1. She is currently serving as the battalion S6 for the 2019-2020 school year. Her plans after high school is High School to flight school with the Amy to be an apache pilot.

    Cadet Major Ra is a senior at GK and it's her third year in JROTC. She is the oldest of 4 siblings and participates in the Running Start program. She has participated on the Armed Drill Team the last 2 years and is participating again this year. She loves to read and create music, and hopes to produce music after high school.

    Cadet Major Roman Lewis is a senior at GKHS. It is his 4th year participating in JROTC. He lives with his mom and his dad. He plays on the varsity basketball team. He also is a Running Start student. He works at McDonald’s. He loves to listen to music and watch YouTube on his free time. He plans on continuing to play basketball in college after high school.
