    Greetings PCSC Students & Families:

Thank you so much for your patience as we plan for the new school year and develop our updated remote learning plan. Before sharing details, please know that we are here to help you navigate the 20-21 school year. In serving 10 districts and 26 high schools, there is not one schedule that will exactly align with each high school's schedule. We recognize that there may be times that a student's high school schedule is in direct conflict with PCSC and our teachers are prepared to work with students to ensure they are still engaged and accessing materials.

Many of you have asked how classes at PCSC will work. How will courses that are supposed to be more hands-on and applied going to make the shift to online? Our teachers have been working throughout the summer to redesign and rearrange their courses, shifting them to the Canvas platform, and researching additional software, resources, at-home labs and projects, etc., to replicate the technical and academic standards included in our courses. Will it be the same as being at PCSC each day? No, however our focus is to provide the fundamentals and foundations focused on industry certification and dual credit (college credit) that are associated with each class and to prepare students to hit the ground running when it is determined it's safe for us to return.

This is new and challenging for all of us and, although we won't get to meet you in person, we're excited to have you at PCSC. In person or online, your teachers are industry professionals, experts in their fields with connections in our community, and they are excited to teach you this upcoming year.

Below you find some initial details - more information will be provided on Tuesday, September 1st prior to the first day of school. The first day of school is Thursday, September 3rd.

     1.  Daily Bell Schedule Attached

Although the times have shifted a bit, we are still building our day around our AM and PM sessions. Please know this is the 100% remote-only schedule. As our situation changes there may be modifications to the schedule. We will certainly communicate any future changes and work through any new potential conflicts.

Monday will be an "asynchronous" day and there will be a consistent schedule Tuesday through Friday with both Synchronous and Asynchronous times. Asynchronous refers to independent student work and Synchronous is live teacher-directed activities.

     2.  Canvas & Zoom
All PCSC classes will be using Canvas and Zoom - Students will receive login information directly from their teacher on Tuesday, September 1st. All PCSC students should have a personal device provided by their home school district. Please contact our main office at 253.800.4800 or email info@pcskillscenter.org if you have any barriers with technology or access.

     3.  Program Materials
The first week or so of school students will only need their personal device to access Canvas and Zoom, and basic school supplies. While many of our programs have online access to textbooks and resources, some PCSC programs will have materials, textbooks, and maybe tools, for pick up to facilitate at-home learning. After the start of the year, teachers will communicate directly with students if there are kits or materials that need to be picked up at PCSC.

Stay tuned for more information and details the first week of September but please don't hesitate to reach out if you have specific questions. Stay healthy and have a great weekend!

    Thank You,
    Michelle Ledbetter
