Instructional Paraeducator Requirements

For a Paraeducator and/or Substitute Paraeducator to work in an instructional position, they must be Highly Qualified:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, AND have one (1) of the following:
    • Hold an Associate Degree, or higher; OR
    • Earned seventy-two (72) quarter credits or forty-eight (48) semester credits at an accredited institution of higher education; OR
    • Successfully Passed the ETS Para Pro test or Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment, scoring 455 or higher; OR
    • Completion of registered apprenticeship program offered by the Washington State Dept. of Labor & Indiustries

 

Additional Information & Requirements
