    The Challenger main office is now closed and will open on Monday, August 17th at 8:00am.

    Watch this space for new information and plans for reopening school in September. 

    The first day of school for the 2020-21 school year is September 3.

  • Returning Student Book Return: June 18 and 19

    We have made it to the end of the school year! Thank you for your flexibility and perseverance as we navigated the school closure and the move to 100% online learning. 

    This Thursday and Friday we invite all returning students to come to Challenger to return any books that have been checked out to them this year. Returning students will keep their iPads over the summer. 

    Office staff will be on hand to check in books during the following days and times: 

    • Thursday, June 18: noon - 6:00pm 

    • Friday, June 19: 9:00am - noon

     When entering the building students are strongly encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing as much as possible.

  • Graduation Details for June 15, 2020!

    Virtual Graduation Ceremony: 

    Will be posted on the Challenger High School website (https://www.bethelsd.org/chs) and the Bethel School District website (https://www.bethelsd.org/) at 9:00am on June 15th. The link will remain active until June 30th for families to access. 

    Diploma Pick Up Route and Schedule

    Every graduate will have the opportunity to “Drive to Success” by driving to Challenger

    in ONE car with family joining them to cheer them on. Please follow the schedule above to limit wait time and traffic lines. Each student will be awarded their diploma cover and have their picture taken by a professional photographer as they cross an outdoor stage set up for the graduates. Pictures of the student crossing the stage will be provided to each graduate after the ceremony along with their diploma. We are looking forward to this unique event and to provide all grads with the experience of ‘walking across the stage’ to receive their high school diploma!

     

    Important Covid-19 Guidelines for Events from the Department of Health:

    During the “Drive to Success” portion of our graduation ceremony the following guidelines must be followed by all graduates and their families:

    • Only students and their immediate family members who are staying at home together and who are not sick, may arrive in the same vehicle.
    • No more than 10 people may be in a single vehicle.
    • Up to two peole  may get out of their vehicle to video/photo their graduate cross the stage and recieve their diploma. 
    • Students must maintain at a 6-foot distance from others.
    • Students must wear a face mask while outside their vehicle.
    • The face mask may be removed for the picture on the stage.

     

    Other reminders so everyone remains safe and healthy both during and after the graduation ceremony:

    • High-risk populations should stay home.
    • People who have COVID-19 or who are in close contact with someone who has COVID19, must remain at home in isolation or quarantine.
    • People must stay home if they feel sick.
    • There may be no person-to-person contact during any ceremony. Individuals may not shake graduates’ hands.

     

    Graduation Dress Guidelines

    Only students who have completed all graduation requirements and have completed the check-out process can participate in the Drive to Success diploma pick up ceremony. Students are encouraged to dress their best and are expected to wear CHS cap, gown and stole ordered through Jostens.com for this important ceremony. 

     

    Dress guidelines for Ladies:

    • Dress, skirt or dress pants and dress shirt
    • Appropriate, easy to walk in shoes (short heels) or flats; no flip flops

    Dress guidelines for Gentlemen:

    • Dress shirt and tie or shirt with a collar
    • Dark trousers or khakis and dark shoes
    • No (old) athletic shoes or flip flops

    Dress guidelines for non-binary graduates:

    • Use the above guidelines and dress as you feel comfortable.   

     

    Other Dress Expectations

    • No decorations of any kind can be worn with the cap and gown other than medals or honor cords awarded through challenger or PCSC
    • No leis, flowers, sashes can be worn during the ceremony—but feel free to present these to your graduate after the ceremony!
    • Students not meeting dress expectations will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony
    • If you need help meeting dress guidelines please let us know, there are resources to help!

    We appreciate your family’s and graduate’s flexibility and understanding during this unprecedented time. We want to make sure and celebrate our graduates’ achievements and to make this day a memorable one for them and for your family. Congratulations in advance to you and your graduate! As we await guidance from the state, we have been pre-planning as much as possible around the start of school. Before decisions are made, we want to hear from parents and students to help inform the many decisions we will have to make.

  • Senior Check Out

    Hello Families of Graduating Seniors!

    This Wednesday, June 10th is Senior Check Out at Challenger High School! This is a required event for all students who are graduating this spring. Students will not be allowed to participate in the drive through graduation ceremony without completing all steps of the check out process. 

    Here are the items each student will need take care of as part of the graduation process: 

    1. Return all books,iPads, cases and chargers (block and cords) 

    2. Pay all fines and fees (pay online here

    3. Certify all requirements are passed (counselor will do this) 

    4. Take senior exit surveys 

    5. Graduation dress expectations and name cards for the ceremony 

    6. Drive Through Graduation directions and time slots 

    7. Write words of wisdom and get your 'Congratulations!' yard signs! 

     

    Please do your best to come to CHS at your given time. This will reduce wait times and crowding in the building: 

    Senior Check Out Schedule, June 10th:

    9:00       Last Names     A - E

    10:00     Last Names     F - J

    11:00     Last Names     K - O

    12:30     Last Names     P - S

    1:30       Last Names     T - Z

    2:00       Last call, anyone who could not come during their time slot

     

    Finally, please follow all Corona Virus social distancing guidelines and wear a mask while in the building at CHS. Masks will be provided to any student who needs one; hand sanitizer will be available at all stations.

    • First order of yearbooks, if ordered by June 5th, will be available for pickup at Senior Checkout on June 10th (Seniors Only)

    • Starting June 11th, Yearbooks will be available for pickup from 10:00 am to 1:00 p.m., in the main office.

    • Priority deadline by June 5th, to receive Yearbook by June 10th/11th

    • Final Deadline by June 15th, to receive Yearbook by the June 19th
