The Bethel School District recently held its first Young Athletes bowling event. Young Athletes is a unique sport and play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities. The focus is on fun activities that are important to mental and physical growth. Children ages three to seven enjoy games and activities that develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Young Athletes is an early introduction to inclusive sports and to the world of Special Olympics.
At this event, 15 students enjoyed three free games of bowling at Paradise Bowl. They were joined by the Point Defiance Pirates, some of our Spanaway Lake High School cheerleaders, and coaches from our three Special Olympics bowling teams.
Bethel's first Young Athletes basketball event is scheduled to be held in February 2017
